As amazing as modern motocross machines are when they come off the production line and hit your local dealer’s showroom floor, there’s always some tuning, upgrades, and setup work to do to personalize your new machine and get it ready for the type of work it’s going to be doing. That was the case with Dirt Bike Magazine editor Mark Tilley as he looked to turn his stock 2018 Kawasaki KX450F into a killer ready to tackle the grueling Big 6 GP race season.
After customizing the suspension and setting up the drivetrain, the team at Dirt Bike Mag added a steering stabilizer and new handlebars. Then it came to the wheels, and as always we were ready to help. The crew handling the build opted to keep the stock hubs and had us Cerakote them for increased durability and a striking look. We laced up the hubs to a set of black D.I.D Dirt Star rims with black stainless steel spokes and black spline drive nipples.
The fellas also upgraded their stopping power with some Galfer USA Wave® rotors and stainless steel braided brake lines. But these upgrades were really just the beginning. Find out what else the Dirt Bike Mag team did to get this KX450F ready for the big stage on their website.
